Spiritual Phenomena

PADRE PIO

On September 20, 1918, Padre Pio was kneeling in front of a large crucifix when he received the visible marks of the crucifixion. The doctor who examined Padre Pio could not find any natural cause for the wounds. These wounds, which neither healed nor festered, were still bleeding at the time of his death in 1968, fifty years later. The wounds of the stigmata were not the only mystical phenomenon experienced by Padre Pio. He had many more gifts. He died on September 23, 1968 at the age of eighty-one. His funeral was attended by about 100,000 people.

Padre Pio was an exceptional man. He had a great love of Jesus. As a priest he heard confessions for hours. People came from all over the world to attend his Masses. One person who went to him for confession said Padre Pio told him every sin he committed and with whom.

After confessing his sins to Padre Pio, he was converted....and believed. This person said, 'I know I'm thick, but not that thick.'

Padre Pio was known to, by God's design, to be in two places at one time. He was in the monastery and at the same time giving the last sacraments to a wounded soldier on the battlefield.

Padre Pio touched the lives of thousands of people when he was alive....and thousands of people since he went to heaven. Many are praying for his canonization. Padre Pio, pray for us!

Padre Pio and Angels
by Fr. Alessio Parente, O.F.M. Cap. "Send Me Your Guardian Angel"

In 1959 I was assigned by the Superiors as Sacristan in Our Lady of Grace Friary. At that time, Padre Pio used to say Mass at 5 A.M. and Holy Communion was not distributed during the Mass, but afterwards. As soon as Padre Pio came into the sacristy after Mass, I would go out to disbribute Holy Communion to the many people in the church. There was always a rush to be first at the altar rails so that one could receive and then move into the little church, where Padre Pio would hear confessions. One day, there were so many people receiving that the big ciborium which I held in my hands was soon emptied completely. While another priest continued to distribute Holy Communion to those people left at the altar rails, I went to the altar and started to purify the ciborium. After I had taken away the small particles, I poured some water into it and washed it well, then I took a purificator to dry it. I was just finished this wand was about to put the cover on it when I saw, on my right side, a Host, in mid-air, heading for the ciborium, and it dropped in. Automatically, my heard jerked towards the right, but there was no one there! The other priest was still at the altar rails. I was a little shocked, to say the least, and when my brother friar returned from the altar rails, I took the Host and put it into his ciborium. Later on during the day, I told Padre Pio of my experience and when he had heard the full story, he said: "Be more careful and don't rush when you distribute Holy Communion. Thank your Guardian Angel who did not let Jesus fall on the floor." This remark of Padre Pio's brought to mind a similar incident when one of my brother friars said to him: "Father, our eyes are not so good that we can see any small particles of the Sacred Species which fall down while we distribute Holy Communion." Padre Pio replied: "What do you think Angeles do around the altar?" With this remark we understood that no matter how small a particle falls, the Angels are ever-ready to collect it and bring it back to the ciborium.

A Light In A Darkened World

Miracle of Lanciano

This wondrous Event took place in the 8th century A.D. in the little Church of St. Legontian, as a result of a monk's doubt about Jesus' Real Presence in the Eucharist.During Holy Mass, after the two-fold consecration, the host was changed into live Flesh and the wine was changed into live Blood, which coagulated into five globules, irregular and differing in shape and size.

The Host-Flesh, as can be very distinctly observed today, has the same dimensions as the large host used today in the Latin church; it is light brown and appears rose-colored when lighted from the back. The Blood is coagulated and has an earthy color resembling the yellow of ochre.

Tests were performed in 1971 and again in 1981.

These were the conclusions:

The Flesh is real Flesh. The Blood is real Blood.

The Flesh and the Blood belong to the human species. The Flesh consists of the muscular tissue of the heart. In the Flesh there is present in section: the myocardium, the endocardium, the vagus nerve and also the left ventricle of the heart for the large thickness of the myocardium.

The Flesh is a 'HEART' complete in its essential structure. The Flesh and the Blood have the same blood-type: AB (Blood-type identical to that which Prof. Baima Bollone uncovered in the Holy Shroud of Turin).
